KENNEDY SPACE CENTER --
NASA is preparing for Friday's tanking test.
They replaced the foam insulation on space shuttle Discovery's external fuel tank and put into place 89 strain gauges and temperature sensors.
The test is meant to make sure that repairs to cracks on the tank are holding. Those cracks, and a hydrogen fuel leak forced NASA to scrub Discovery's launch in November.
After the tanking test Friday morning, Discovery will be rolled back into the vehicle assembly building for even more tests.
Discovery is now scheduled to launch from the Kennedy Space Center no earlier than February 3.
